Catching Fireflies

finding magic along the way

Doing the Scary Thing

Ok, I’ll admit it… I never thought that I would have a blog.

I am a writer who never thought she had anything to say, a closet writer who hid her passion in the dark back corner under some shoes where no one would ever see it.  At what point do I actually earn the right to be called a writer?  I am not published (yet! 🙂 ); I have not set aside large chunks of time to pursue my dreams of writing;  I have not even shared these dreams with many people.  And yet, there it is – continually poking at me and trying to get my attention – the dream of writing.  I am a writer.  That statement takes a lot of courage to put out there.  So many people learn to put their dreams, especially their creative dreams, into a shoebox and bury them deep because there is no room for them in “real life.”  Finally, in my early 40’s, I am learning to open that long-buried box and let the sun shine into it.

I am a writer.

I am a writer.

I am a writer.

A friend of mine posted a link on her facebook page that said “If your dream does not scare you, it is not big enough.”  Well, mine scares me.  The idea of putting myself out there – into the public, onto the web, placing my work in front of someone whose sole job is to judge whether or not it is worthy.  That is very scary.  But I have had the privilege of seeing a few friends recently decide to follow their own scary dreams, and they have given me courage.

This blog, I hope, will be a place for me to share my journey – the frustrations but also the magic along the way.

You are a Writer! And I am a follower of your BLOG!! If the pursuance of our dreams were a 50-yard dash, there would be no challenge to achieving success; instead, it’s a marathon, meant to challenge and reward with every twist and turn:) Looking forward to reading more and SO excited for you!! XO

    • Welcome, Jocelyn! So true about this being a marathon — we cannot expect to achieve our dreams overnight. We must put in our time and energy over the long road.

  4. One of my favorite quotes is by Mark Twain~
The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.
You, my friend, have found out why! You are a writer, an author and your voice is your gift. Please continue give the gift over and over so that every day can be Christmas morning to all of us! I am so very proud of you for deciding to listen to your inner voice and can’t wait to be first in line at your book signings. The wheels are in motion, what happens next will be nothing short of spectacular…

    • Welcome, Chrissy!!
Never forget that your following your dream was one of the final nudges I needed! Now we can inspire each other. 🙂
