Catching Fireflies

finding magic along the way

WANACon… WOW!

I had the opportunity to attend the online WANACon over the past weekend and I had told you all that I would be sure to let you know how it went. Well, I have been trying for the past two days to wrap my brain around all of the information that I learned so I could articulate what I am feeling.

WOW!

No other word works. It was an amazing experience.

I have had the honor of getting to know some wonderful people through this blog, and through NaNoWriMo. But on a day-to-day level, I have been struggling to write without other writers. I have my family and friends and of course, my wonderful husband, who support me in my writing endeavors. But I had come to think of the writing “tribe” I had heard about as a figment of some lonely writer’s imagination. Not any longer.

There is a writing tribe out there and they hang out on WANA International!

I spent the weekend meeting and interacting with writers, both new and established, both published and prepublished. There were publishers and agents and people who format books and lawyers who specialize in publishing and copyright. So many great teachers and inspiring speakers.

I have been spoiled now. I don’t think I could ever attend a conference where I have to actually get out of my pajamas to attend. šŸ™‚

It may take until WANACon 2014 for all the information and new ideas to really sink in. (And I still have a couple of seminars to listen to when the recordings are posted later this week!) The lovely WANA Mama, Kristen Lamb, told us that she was thinking she may not wait that long to organize another event like this… Well, my fearless leader – 2014, or June — count me in!

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed WANACon. I can’t wait until the next one in June šŸ™‚

    • Hey Marcy! Thanks for stopping by my blog. šŸ™‚ I already marked my calendar for June and told my husband that can be his gift to me for my birthday. Hopefully, by then, I will be coming to it as as author about to launch her very first book!
