My Fiddle Fascination
I have always loved music – all genres are welcome in my CD collection. But ss you can see from my last couple posts, I have a fascination with the violin. I started playing violin in my late 30s with the intention of learning to play some classical music. Luckily, I had a wonderful teacher who not only taught me classical music but also introduced me to Celtic and Scottish fiddle tunes. I had never been exposed to this type of music and I was instantly hooked! I have not been taking lessons the past few years but have been itching to get back to playing more. I wanted to share some of my favorite fiddlers so you can check them out!
- Jeremy Kittel
- Alasdair Fraser
- Martin Hayes
- Winifred Horan
- Natalie MacMaster
- Nickel Creek
- Liz Carroll
- April Verch
- Mark O’Connor
- Leahy
- Jay Ungar
- Allison Krauss
Of course, I have a hard time concentrating on writing when there is a foot-stomping fiddle jam playing on the stereo. So, maybe I will save these for my soundtrack in the car…
Check some of them out! Play something out of your normal genre! 🙂 Let me know what you think.
What kind of music do you like to listen to? What instruments do you love to hear?
